Booking terms

Terms & Conditions

Standard booking terms applied to all MTC International Removals quotes and booked moves. These set out the contract between you and us — what's included, how the quote works, deposit and payment terms, claims procedures, and the conditions that apply to your move.

1. About these terms

These terms apply to all moves booked with MTC International Removals ("MTC", "we", "us"). By signing the written quote, you accept these terms as the contract for your move. Any variation to these terms — for example, customer-specific clauses, additional services, or special handling requirements — must be set out in writing in the quote itself.

2. Quotes

Every move begins with a survey and a written, itemised quote. The quote sets out the scope of work, the services included, optional add-ons, factors that affect cost, the contract terms, and the price.

Quotes are valid for thirty days from the date of issue. After that, the quote may need to be revised to reflect changes in fuel costs, fleet availability, or supplier pricing on materials. We don't change a quote without telling you in writing first.

Quotes are based on the information provided at survey. If the scope changes between survey and move day — additional items, access changes, packing depth altered, additional addresses — the quote may need to be revised. Any revision is agreed in writing before being applied.

3. Booking and deposit

The move is confirmed when you sign and return the quote and pay the deposit. The deposit secures the move date and the team's availability.

The deposit amount and balance payment schedule are set out on each quote. The balance is due before the move begins, unless we've agreed an alternative schedule in writing.

Deposits are refundable in full if you cancel more than fourteen days before the move date. Cancellations within fourteen days of the move are subject to the conditions set out in the booking contract — typically a percentage of the deposit retained to cover scheduling costs.

4. Date changes

If you need to change the move date after booking, tell us as soon as you can. We'll re-book the move where availability permits. The conditions on date changes — including any administrative fee or scheduling adjustment — are set out on the quote.

We treat slipped property completions and similar timing disruptions as standard parts of UK and international removals work; we apply the contract terms sensibly.

5. What's included on the move

The written quote sets out what's included for your specific move. Standard inclusions on every MTC move are: the pre-move survey; loading at the pickup address including stairs and standard furniture dismantle; transit between addresses; goods-in-transit and public liability insurance; delivery at the destination including stairs and basic furniture reassembly; one direct contact at MTC throughout the move.

Items that sit outside the standard inclusions — full or fragile-only packing, storage, house clearance, customs handling for declared high-value items, waste removal, weekend or out-of-hours premium slots — are quoted separately and added to the quote when you tick them.

6. Insurance and claims

All booked moves include goods-in-transit insurance and public liability insurance as standard. The insurance schedule, cover limits, and any item-specific declarations are set out on the quote.

Higher-value items — antiques, art, jewellery, instruments — must be declared at survey for the cover to apply. Items not declared at survey may not be fully covered; the survey is the moment to flag every specialist item.

If you need to make a claim, contact us in writing within seven days of delivery for visible damage, and within twenty-eight days for damage or loss discovered during unpacking. We'll respond to acknowledge the claim within a working day or two and confirm the claims process. Claims are routed through our goods-in-transit insurer.

7. Your responsibilities

  • Provide accurate information at survey — addresses, contents, specialist items, access constraints, target dates.
  • Tell us in writing about any changes in scope before the move day.
  • Ensure access at both pickup and destination addresses on the move day, including parking, lift access (if applicable), and any required permits.
  • Empty fridges and freezers, remove hazardous materials (paint, solvents, aerosols, fuel, gas canisters), and remove perishable items before move day.
  • Keep passports, jewellery, cash, prescription medication, and other valuables with you on move day rather than including them with the household contents.
  • For international moves, provide the customs paperwork inputs we ask for (EORI confirmation, transfer-of-residence documents, value declarations on high-value items) within the timeframe set out on the quote.

8. What we don't accept for transit

  • Hazardous materials of any kind — paint, solvents, flammables, aerosols, fuel, gas canisters, lithium batteries above a certain capacity.
  • Live plants for international moves where the destination country's biosecurity rules don't permit them.
  • Live animals — use a specialist pet relocation service.
  • Vehicles, boats, or motorcycles — use a specialist vehicle shipper.
  • Illegal items, prohibited weapons, or items in breach of UK or destination-country export/import controls.

9. Liability and limitation

Our liability for any loss or damage to the goods is limited to the cover provided by our goods-in-transit insurance, except where statute imposes a higher liability. The cover limits are set out on the quote.

We aren't liable for loss or damage caused by events outside our reasonable control — including without limitation: severe weather, road closures, customs hold-ups, port disruption, industrial action, criminal acts of third parties, or the breakdown of property completions at either end. Where such events affect the move, we'll work with you to reschedule or adjust the scope; any change to the quote will be agreed in writing.

10. Payment

Payment terms are set out on each quote. Payment is by bank transfer to the account named on the invoice. For booked moves, the balance is due before the move begins unless an alternative schedule has been agreed in writing.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

12. Contact

Questions about these terms or about a specific quote should be sent to contact@mtcinternationalremovals.co.uk.
