Packing Services Across the UK

MTC's packing service runs three ways: full property packing where we pack everything; fragile-only where we cover the kitchen, glassware, art and instruments; or DIY where we supply the materials and you pack. Whichever you choose, the same MTC team handles the pack and the move.

Three options on the same brief

Pick the packing depth that suits the move

  • Full packing — the team comes ahead of move day (typically a day or two depending on property size), packs every room, labels every box. You don't lift a box; you just hand over the keys on move day. Most international moves go full pack because of the customs inventory requirements.
  • Fragile-only packing — the team packs the high-risk items: kitchen contents (china, glass, ceramics), art, instruments, mirrors, lamps, electronics. You pack the rest yourself. A common middle ground for UK domestic moves where the household wants control over their own things but doesn't want to pack the breakables.
  • DIY packing with our materials — we deliver professional packing materials (boxes, paper, bubble wrap, tape) ahead of move day, you pack everything yourself, we handle the loading and transit. The materials are properly sized for removals work — not the cardboard you'll find at the supermarket.

What MTC packing actually covers

  • All packing materials supplied — boxes, tape, paper, bubble wrap, specialist crates for art and antiques where surveyed.
  • Furniture protection — blankets, corner protectors, stretch wrap for upholstered items.
  • Itemised inventory with the box numbering as the team packs — useful for insurance and (on international moves) the customs declaration.
  • Wardrobe boxes for hanging garments — clothes go straight from the wardrobe to the box on hangers, no folding.
  • Specialist crating where surveyed — paintings, sculptures, large mirrors, fragile antiques.
  • Labelling per room or per destination location, so unpacking lands the boxes in the right place.

What's not in the packing quote

  • Hazardous materials — paint, solvents, aerosols, fuel, gas canisters. We don't pack or transport these; they're either disposed of before the move or arranged separately.
  • Personal documents and valuables — passports, jewellery, watches, cash. We recommend you keep these with you on the move day rather than pack them with the household contents. The team will confirm at survey what we're handling and what stays with you.
  • Perishables and frozen food — common-sense exclusion. Empty the fridge before move day.
  • Large pieces of art or instruments without a specialist survey — pianos, oversized art, anything fragile or high-value gets surveyed separately so it's quoted with the right crating and crew.

How packing fits with the rest of the move

Packing isn't a separate booking — it's a line on the move quote, ticked or not ticked. The same MTC team that scopes the move runs the pack. You don't get one team for the pack and another for the move day; you don't get a packing manager and a separate move manager. It's one team, one direct contact, one written quote.

What's included on every move

Move with us, know what you're getting

Removals quotes can feel opaque. We try not to be. Every MTC move comes with the same baseline of written terms, insurance, and direct human contact — so there are no surprises between booking and the front door.

Itemised written quote

Every quote sets out the move scope, what we cover, and what affects cost — sent in writing before anything is booked.

Vetted in-house team

No subcontractor handovers between collection and delivery. The same MTC crew runs your move from start to finish.

Insurance built in

Goods-in-transit and public liability cover is included on every move. Higher-value items declared in the quote.

One direct contact

You speak to the same person from quote through to drop-off. No call-centre redirects, no chasing a job number.

Add packing to your move

Tell us about the move on the brief at /quote and tick which packing depth you'd like. The surveyor will scope the pack with the move.
